About
Robotics software with a mechanical engineering backbone.
Hi, I'm Chadi Salmi. I'm a freelance robotics software engineer, and I've been hooked on robots since I started the Intelligent Vehicles master at TU Delft in 2017.
The year that shaped me most was Formula Student Team Delft, where we converted an electric racecar to driverless operation. Cameras, lidar, steering and braking actuation, embedded compute, and the motion planning to tie it all together. On a race car, "it worked in simulation" is not an answer, and that mindset has stuck with me ever since.
After that I did research at TU Delft's Cognitive Robotics department, led the development of an in-store order-picking robot at AIRLab Delft, and built an autonomous robot for the horticulture industry at Viscon. These days I take on freelance projects where robotics software needs to leave the lab and hold up on real hardware.
